Kris Mallette – Head Coach Of The North Okanagan Knights
The North Okanagan Knights are pleased to announce the promotion of Kris Mallette to Head Coach for the upcoming 2011/12 season. Mallette joined the Knights last season as an assistant coach.
“I want to make the North Okanagan Knights an important destination for young, talented kids and help them get to the next level as quickly as possible”, says Mallette. “We’re going to be a structured, high-energy team that is disciplined. Players will be held accountable for their attention to detail.” Building on last-years improvements, Mallette wants high-tempo for this team – “we’ll be a fast-paced, hard hitting team that will outwork our opponents night in, night out.” Assisting Mallette will be returning assistant coach Shawn Webb.
Mallette played 4 years in the WHL with the Kelowna Rockets and Moose Jaw Warriors. A Philadelphia Flyers 3rd round draft pick in 1997, he played 9 years professionally in North America. Kris lives with his wife Susie and 2 daughters Grace and Kaitlyn.
This is a great opportunity for Kris to carry on his hockey career. After 9 years playing pro hockey, he wants to move onto a career in coaching. Armstrong is a great community with an ownership group that cares a great deal about the players, the team’s success and its staff – it’s a great place to coach or play Junior hockey.
The North Okanagan Knights are members of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League. Based in Armstrong, British Columbia, Canada, they play in the Doug Birks Division of the Okanagan/Shuswap Conference. Home games are played at the Nor- Val Centre in Armstrong.
